PEACE, Inc. AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent volunteers recently enjoyed a Halloween-themed experience filled with local history, spooky stories, and plenty of laughs! The Onondaga Historical Association presented CNY Macabre, sharing local tales, legends, and stories about things that go bump in the Syracuse night. The presentation also explored the history of local Native Americans and shared legends surrounding the Erie Canal.
The Halloween fun continued with a friendly mummy-making contest, giving volunteers a chance to show off their creativity and see who could do the best job wrapping a mummy!
Experiences like these give Foster Grandparent volunteers opportunities to connect with one another, explore local history, and enjoy time together outside of their regular volunteer activities. A big thank you to the Onondaga Historical Association for bringing CNY Macabre to our volunteers and helping make it a memorable Halloween celebration. It was truly a spooky good time for all!
