Egg-citment at the Viola G. Chisholm Eastside Family Resource Center

Egg-citment at the Viola G. Chisholm Eastside Family Resource Center

The youth group at the Viola G. Chisholm Eastside Family Resource Center had an egg-citing time celebrating together! Staff prepared giant gift eggs filled with fun surprises, and the children eagerly searched the community room to find them.

Inside the eggs, students discovered fidgets, tasty snacks, and even some silly string, adding extra excitement to the hunt. The event ended with laughter and a playful silly string fight, creating memories that the youth will remember for a long time.

Events like this highlight the importance of community, creativity, and fun in supporting youth engagement and building strong connections among participants and staff.

Planning for a Healthier and Wealthier Future

Planning for a Healthier and Wealthier Future

PEACE Inc.’s Eastside FRC recently hosted a session called “Protecting Assets from long-Term Care Costs” or — as one attendee put it afterwards — “saving us from money surprises and heartache later on.” Emily from Bousquet Holstein was the perfect guide through wills, deeds, trusts, creditors and family politics, making the whole affair far less opaque and intimidating. Veronica and Pete of the ‘Golden Age Social Club’ (pictured) sang the praises of our Family Resource Center, crediting it with introducing them to a whole range of topics, from blood pressure checks to CPR certification to health eating. They love this place and it’s easy to see why!
Exploring Nature While Building Strong Young Women

Exploring Nature While Building Strong Young Women

Spring was just arriving as PEACE Eastside Family Resource Center’s Girls Circle visited Taconic and Bear Mountain State Parks. They made the most of their 3 days in the woods, from s’mores to a ropes course, tie-dyeing t-shirts to learning how to start a fire without matches. The weather played nice and the trip was a fantastic opportunity to bond with one another and explore nature.

Girls Circle serves youth ages 11-17, providing structured support, positive connections, and a space to build self-esteem and resilience. We’re so proud of their work in building strong, confident young women!

Second Annual Food Justice Gathering

Second Annual Food Justice Gathering

On Saturday, it was a wonderful day of education, advocacy, and community as Syracuse Onondaga Food Systems Alliance held its Second Annual Food Justice Gathering. PEACE, Inc. had the opportunity to share the successes of its partnership with Delaney Farms. The latter increased access to fresh and healthy produce for our city FRCs and taught Let Me Be Great summer youth how to plant, grow, and harvest both vegetables and flowers.

Thank you once again SOFSA for funding this important partnership.

Eastside “Back to School Giveaway”

Eastside “Back to School Giveaway”

On August 21st, The Eastside Family Resource Center brought smiles to the faces of many families as it hosted its annual “Back to School Giveaway.” The event was a grand success as families received essential school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and clothing to kick-start the new school year.

This generous initiative helped alleviate the financial burden on many families and ensured that students were well-equipped for their academic journey. The overwhelming success of the event was made possible by the dedicated volunteers, kind-hearted donors, and the staff of The Eastside Family Resource Center. Their unwavering support and hard work made a significant difference in the lives of many families.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to making this event a success, helping to create a positive start to the school year for students and families in the community.
